We manage the risks of price volatility inherent in agricultural commodities, energy, transportation, interest rates, foreign exchange and weather.
Job Description: We are seeking graduating seniors for our Commodity Risk Management Training Program, a rotational training program lasting about 12 months. The strongest candidates will have an interest in commodity markets, finance and international trade. The program will begin this year in August 2011 and will consist of various on the job training placements interspersed with periods of classroom instruction. The program will have segments in White Plains, NY, St. Louis, MO, Geneva, Switzerland and various other locations throughout the United States and Europe. Topics to be covered will likely include: futures trading, basis and country merchandising, commodity accounting, domestic transport, export merchandising, ocean freight, energy markets and economic research. At the end of the program, trainees will be place in one of BGA's six operating areas: oilseeds, grain, sugar, ocean freight, energy or financial services. These placements may include, at a junior level, jobs as traders/risk managers, economic analysts, quantitative risk analysts, finance and control managers, and logistic analysts.
Qualifications: The willingness to travel, and eventually relocate, internationally is an absolute requirement. We are seeking applicants who have a keen interest in global commodity markets. Candidates should understand that the program is designed to prepare them to trade physical commodities and is not oriented toward derivative trading. The ability to speak languages, in addition to English, is a major advantage.
